Light inspection-class ROV simulator

Pilot the depths.
Inspect what others can't.

A training sim for compact inspection ROVs — realistic hydrodynamics, FPV camera control, photo-survey missions, and a live video stream. We're polishing the first release.

Early preview

A first look at what's in the water.

Work-in-progress shots from the current build — visuals, missions, and polish are still evolving.

Your mission

Run real survey jobs — without leaving dry land.

Each mission drops you on a vessel that needs inspecting. Fly the ROV around the hull, find every General-Arrangement component on the checklist, and photograph it cleanly. The sim scores your coverage and the quality of each capture — just like a real survey deliverable.

  • Pick a vessel and deploy from the surface
  • Hold attitude while maneuvering in drag and current
  • Find & photograph each inspection target for points
  • Read live depth, heading, altitude & velocity on the FPV HUD

Built for realism

Everything you need to feel the water.

Inspired by professional inspection workflows — not arcade flight. Every system is tuned for believable ROV handling in shallow and moderate depths.

01

4-DOF piloting

Dual-stick control: surge and yaw on one axis pair, heave and sway on the other. The vehicle stays level — just like typical inspection ROV defaults.

02

Marine hydrodynamics

Drag, buoyancy, and restoring forces modeled after marine vehicle dynamics — so momentum, drift, and station-keeping feel authentic.

03

FPV camera & HUD

Tilt the camera to scan hulls and confined spaces, with a clean FPV overlay reading depth, heading, altitude, and body velocities at a glance.

04

Photo-survey missions

Locate and capture every General-Arrangement component on the vessel. Coverage and capture quality drive your mission score.

05

Live video stream

Broadcast your FPV feed over HTTP as MJPEG — open it in VLC or a browser so observers can watch on a separate display, just like real operations.

06

Full input remapping

Bind surge, sway, heave, yaw, and camera tilt to any gamepad or keyboard. Swap devices mid-session with live detection.

Light inspection class

The ROV category you're training on.

No brand names — just the vehicle class used worldwide for visual inspection in ports, dams, aquaculture, and industrial assets.

Typical profile

  • Size Compact — often under 1 m, tens of kg in air
  • Depth rating Shallow to moderate (commonly 100–300 m class)
  • Propulsion 4–6 thrusters — horizontal, vertical, vectored
  • Power Surface-supplied via tether umbilical

Real-world missions

  • Port, marina & harbor infrastructure surveys
  • Vessel hull, propeller & rudder inspection
  • Dam, lock & hydroelectric structure checks
  • Pipeline, cable & aquaculture monitoring
  • Confined-space search & object verification

Why sim training matters

  • Build muscle memory before expensive field time
  • Practice precision in current and limited visibility
  • Learn dual-display workflows (pilot + observer)
  • Fail safely — recover from collisions and drift

Controls

Pick up a gamepad. You're already halfway there.

Inspect-Me ships with industry-standard dual-stick mapping and a full rebind menu. Keyboard pilots get the same axes — every control surface is remappable on the fly.

Press Esc in-game to return to the menu and adjust bindings anytime.

FAQ

Common questions

When will it be available?

Inspect-Me is in active development. Star or watch the GitHub repo to get notified when the first public build drops.

How much will it cost?

The first release is free to play. The source is available on GitHub under a source-available license — free to use, but not to copy or redistribute. See the license in the repo for details.

Is this tied to a specific ROV manufacturer?

No. Inspect-Me models the light inspection-class category — compact tethered vehicles with 4-DOF piloting and FPV workflows common across the industry. No brand names appear in the simulator.

Can observers watch the FPV feed separately?

Yes — the sim streams MJPEG over HTTP on a local port, so pilots and observers can use separate displays (open it in VLC or a browser), just like real operations.

What hardware will I need?

A PC with a dedicated GPU is recommended. Keyboard, mouse, and gamepad/joystick support are built in, with full remappable bindings.

Are you an ROV manufacturer?

If you build ROVs and would like to discuss collaboration, we'd love to hear from you — reach out at [email protected].
